Woofstock

E-mail

Sunday, I decided to wander over to Woofstock and shoot dogs (so to speak). With the end of the season's free concert series at the Four Seasons Centre, I wanted to shoot something a little different. I was also reflecting on a comment George DeWolfe made during a workshop I'd attended a couple of years back, about getting out and getting an image every day. Sunday, I got about 400.

My favourites are at chrishutcheson.com/woofstock

Woofstock, if nothing else, is concrete evidence of the incredible and growing number of people who have, and love, dogs. I don't think you would have found a pet abuser in the crowd. Though, some of those costumes...

I find the emotions and moods dogs display incredibly intriguing and engaging. I hope you enjoy these images.

Archival Giclée Prints

E-mail

I’m frequently asked “What is an archival giclée print?" or “What does giclée mean?”Giclée describes the process used to print the image - with a high-quality ink jet printer using pigment-based inks on archival quality fine art papers. Canon, Epson, and Hewlett-Packard all make printers that use pigment-based inks. You won’t find these printers at your local big box store – they’re precision printers made for the high-end commercial and fine art markets. I currently own one, an Epson 9880, and print images up to 44 inches wide by whatever length of paper is available.

The paper on which the images are printed should be acid and lignin-free, and pH neutral to ensure longevity. All my images meet these requirements. I personally print them on 100% cotton rag fine art paper made by MOAB paper of Moab, Utah, Hahnemühle or Epson.

Finally, I mat, mount and frame my images using acid-free, neutral pH materials. According to testing, my images, properly protected, should last 100 years or more.
